2004 Agency Report Card
Rx Communications Group Financial communications for healthcare companies New York
Former investment banker Melody Carey started her public relations career at Noonan Russo, while her partner Rhonda Chiger worked at Dewe Rogerson and Thomson Financial, so they bring to Rx Communications a wealth of investor relations experience and an in-depth knowledge of the healthcare and life sciences sectors. Meanwhile, its business model-Rx is staffed by senior communications counselors who have established contacts in the banking, analyst, institutional and venture capital communities as well as the media-sets it even further apart. As a result, Rx Communications has built a reputation as a leader in its niche in just three short years.
While Rx has worked with a wide range of life sciences and healthcare companies, but many of its clients are small cap, emerging companies, and as a result the firm tends to work as a strategic partner, securing increased coverage for its clients in the financial community as well as the media, and helping many of them position themselves for future growth. The firm has facilitated valuable non-banking analyst coverage for clients including Bone Care International, 3-Dimensional Pharmaceuticals, Genaissance Pharmaceuticals and ImmunoGen; has helped clients such as Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Curon Medical, Dr, Reddy's Laboratories and Syngenta increase their institutional shareholdings; and assisted several private and public company clients in securing venture capital and PIPE financings. Its efforts have been recognized by SABRE, PR News, and others, and the firm was a finalist for PR Week's Agency of the Year award after just two years of operation.
The firm has more than doubled in size since launch, and while 2003 was a challenging year Rx saw an increase in the number of international life science companies (from markets such as Switzerland, India, Germany and Canada) seeking counsel in the U.S. market. New client additions included Amicus Therapeutics, Barrier Therapeutics, Bone Care International, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Neothermia Corporation, Theratechnologies. The firm also beat out several larger firms to organize, invite, host and provide investor feedback for a major, New York investor day on behalf of Serono.
